Eurostat data released on Wednesday showed tourism in the EU reaching a record high in 2025, with 3.1 billion overnight stays in accommodation establishments.

This represented a 2.2% increase on 2024, with Bulgaria's growth exceeding the EU average. Malta recorded the largest increase, at 10.1% compared with the previous year.

Bulgaria ranked ninth in the EU for growth, with the total number of overnight stays rising by around 4% to 28,816,601 compared with 2024, according to Eurostat data.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported that increases were recorded in almost all months, particularly during the summer and autumn.
