The Bulgarian theatre art had a bright appearance under the starry sky of Peloponnese on a stage built in the 4th century BC, where the tragedies of ancient playwrights were once performed, BTA reports.
On
July 10 and 11, “The Bacchae” by Euripides, directed by Javor
Gardev and a production of the National Theater “Ivan Vazov” made
its premiere in the legendary Ancient Theater in Epidaurus in front
of over 10,000 spectators.
“The
Bacchae” is a co-production between the National Theater “Ivan
Vazov”, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, Vegas Cultural Co. –
Athens and the National Theater of Northern Greece – Thessaloniki.
The music for the production was created and performed live by The
Tiger Lillies. The musicians are directly involved in the dramatic
action, as if they had stepped out of the mythical world.
